The Summertime Series: Come Join Our New Initiative.

My colleague, Dr Harold Pupko, suggested that we continue our teaching season into the summer.

So as I commence work on the new education blog, he is planning our new small group teaching initiative.

So here we begin.  And I do hope to see some of you at our summer workshops.  The small size of the groups promises to make for a great atmosphere for sharing.

This is what Dr Pupko writes:

This summer, the Section on Primary Care Mental Health (SoPCMH) is inviting you to participate in a new educational initiative.  It’s a bit of an experiment.

The experiment involves providing a venue for colleagues to gather and share what is on their minds when it comes to providing mental health care. Whether you would like to discuss a case, share an interesting educational experience, are enthusiastic about a book, article or video, or are just looking to pick your colleagues brains, these evenings are envisioned to provide you with the opportunity to do so. Being the summer, the approach will be a laid back one, encouraging collegial interaction.

The evening will be led by Dr. Harold Pupko, Section vice Chair, and will be co-facilitated by colleagues from the education committee of the SoPCMH, focusing on unleashing the collective clinical experience and wisdom within the room.  We are a diverse group of clinicians on the committee, so expect to have a few approaches and perspectives shared during these events.

As this is an experiment, you are asked to confirm the date you will be attending during the week before each session. Please reply before noon of the Sunday proceeding the Monday session at drhappi@aol.com. You will be notified if there is insufficient interest to get together that week.

Our Section is dedicated to helping family physicians and physician psychotherapists provide optimal mental health care to our patients. This program is just one of the many educational opportunities our Section provides to OMA members.
